Greg & John Russo
When John Russo was fourteen years old, his Aunt Rose Russo told him to "take over the wine business." So John studied wine and marketing books, and hooked up with some industry professionals who mentored John so he could become a respected wine merchant and educator. John works with the best vintners, brokers, and importers to carefully select the best quality wines at value prices. Greg Russo has been working at his father's side for many years and is carrying on the family tradition.

Cherry aromas are layered in this deeply-colored Pinot Noir, and secondary notes of mint and forest floor can be found in the nose as well. Fresh red currant flavors are concentrated on the palate, and well-balanced by a nice earthiness and mild spice reminiscent of coriander and sandalwood. Full-bodied for a Pinot Noir but matched with a mouthwatering acidity, this style of red wine is unusually versatile. Velvety tannins stretch out the long finish with a trace of red ripe fruit as the final flavors linger.
Sourced from two eastern Carneros vineyards and one vineyard in the cool Southern area of Napa Valley, this Pinot Noir is expertly blended with a small amount of Monterey Pinot as well, which contributes to the multi-faceted layers in this wine. Pair this wine with grilled pork chops, an artisanal margherita pizza, or a teriyaki mushroom burger to enjoy the nuanced flavors to their fullest.
Lange Twins Pinot Noir 2011
Reg. $17.99 Sale $14.99
The LangeTwins Pinot Noir is one not to be missed. Estate grown in their Clarksburg vineyards in California using 100% sustainable farm practices. This pinot has body and character unlike a lot of the bargain California ones. It has a very floral nose and flavors of cherries, strawberries, and raspberries with a dry, slight earthy finish. Pinot Noir goes great with thanksgiving turkey and much more. One of the most versital food pairing wines going with both red and white meat.
As we all know it's hard to find a good affordable Pinot Noir. I always keep my eye out for them and the 2011 Silver Peak is one of them. Grown in two of the most prestigious Pinot Noir growing regions of Sonoma; Carneros and Russian River. It's aged 12 months in French and American oak to give it a rich medium-bodied structure. Casis and berry flavors enrich the palate with a touch of vanilla and a clean lingering finish.
This is pretty amazing for under $8. Stonewood's 100% pinot noir from California is medium-bodied with rich raspberry and cherry flavors, deep color and a smooth clean finish. Most pinot noirs of this price blend a good percentage of other grapes like syrah to keep the price down since pinot noir is more expensive to make. Stonewood prides themself on making 100% varietal wines that won't break the bank. Serve with ham, turkey, or chicken.
Wente Reliz Creek Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir is one of our top selling in the over $20 price point. This week's special is not to be missed if you're interested in a true Pinot Noir for under $20 during this great sale. The 2009 Wente Reliz Creek Pinot Noir comes from Arroyo Seco Monterey, CA. This region gives a cooler growing season which allows the grapes to fully ripen and the minerals of the soil give it that deep, rich flavor. It has bright aromas and flavors of strawberry, cherry, and vanilla, with a slight bit of toasted oak, earth and cigar box. With bright, natural acidity and delicate tannins and a long fruity finish. Goes great with chicken dishes with mushrooms. Here's the scoop from the 5th generation winemaker, Karl Wente: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=YnSG-KcJYg4
