Greg & John Russo
When John Russo was fourteen years old, his Aunt Rose Russo told him to "take over the wine business." So John studied wine and marketing books, and hooked up with some industry professionals who mentored John so he could become a respected wine merchant and educator. John works with the best vintners, brokers, and importers to carefully select the best quality wines at value prices. Greg Russo has been working at his father's side for many years and is carrying on the family tradition.

This Chateauneuf du Pape has the classic kirsch, roasted herb and loamy oil notes along with the pepper and beef tartare with medium to full body and a good finish. This is only the second year for the winery to make a Chateauneuf and I think they did a great job getting the style especially, since the the Grande Reserve is a very similar style just not meeting the standards to call it Chateauneuf du Pape. Supplies are very limited since not very much of these wines were brought into Michigan because of small production and high demand.
Fortunately for us, China has substantially slowed down their buying of Bordeaux because of a trade disagreement bringing a lot of prices down for us. Rocheterrier Bordeaux is an example of a wonderful "every day Bordeaux" for an actual every day price. It's medium-bodied with blackberry and quince flavors, soft tannins and a smooth finish. Serve with fresh bread and manchego cheese. Oh yeah, if you buy a case it comes in a wood box. Not easy to find at this price. While supplies last!
